FutureGate Healthcare Solutions announced the successful launch of PharmaFlow™ self-service medication dispensing machines at Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, part of the Emirates Health Services network.
The implementation involved extensive collaboration with EHS teams to optimize pharmacy workflows. The organization worked through various challenges to enhance system quality and feasibility.
Hospital officials expressed enthusiasm about expanding the solution to other EHS facilities following the successful deployment.
The system communicates with patients via SMS containing prescription pickup links and delivery options (pharmacy pickup, self-service kiosks, or home delivery). Notifications inform patients about prescription refills and readiness status.
This represents a globally first-of-its-kind service integrating ATM-like kiosks with the BD Rowa Vmax™ robotic machine, Cerner HIS system (Wareed), ERP system (MS Dynamics AX), and the national patient portal (Shefaa).
The self-service solution enables patients to retrieve medications using Emirates ID and prescription barcodes at 24/7 kiosks without pharmacist presence. Video consultation options remain available. Kiosks can be positioned inside or outside hospitals. Drive-thru pickup service was planned for launch at additional hospitals.
